WHO DO YOU NEED TO HIRE FOR A BUILDING PROJECT?

This can be a loaded question and can often depend on the situation.

The core people you will need are:

An architect

An engineer

A quantity surveyor

Project manager

A builder/contractor

A demolition company (for renovations)

An earthworks company (to prepare the land)

An electrician

A plumber

A concrete specialist (or specialist for your man building material eg. Timber)

NHBRC agent (for enrolment to certify building)

Roofing specialist

Window and door specialist(s)

Finishers (flooring, plastering, paving, fencing, painting, kitchens etc.)

It is not uncommon for some of the above people to absorb many roles, but make sure they do all of those roles often and well (doing you a favour to cut costs often has the opposite effect)

Our main focus is on design and providing the client with as much information as possible to be able to carry out a design or idea that they have for their spaces. The importance of design and its impact on people, families, communities - cannot be overstated in our view.
We want to be considered a resource and to help anyone – including those who would usually not be able to consult an architect or designer (Interior or Landscape) – to be able to live happily and enjoy their environments as well as maintaining the health of that environment.
We work in structured phases providing guidelines, full designs, drawing help and more - and can be involved at many levels of design and construction.

WHAT AREAS DOES THE HOME LIBRARY WORK IN?

The Home Library is offered as an online platform where you can ask questions and we can assist you. We offer full design services online from wherever you are and can also assist with more traditional face-to-face methods in South Africa.

WHAT IS YOUR DESIGN STYLE?

We are experienced in modern and classical high-end design and are able implement those design principles to smaller spaces and budgets. We keep up to date with trends and are able to adapt additions and alterations to the existing property or site.
Energy efficiency is a priority in our designs and we will recommend efficient additions when able to and can design spaces with passive heating and cooling principles.
